A shocking explosion occurred outside the Trump International Hotel in Las Vegas on Wednesday, when a Tesla Cybertruck erupted into flames, resulting in one fatality and injuring seven others. The incident quickly went viral, with multiple videos circulating by Thursday morning.
A social media user shared what appeared to be security footage, showing the Tesla Cybertruck suddenly bursting into flames while parked at the hotel entrance. The video was later reposted with the caption, “Tesla Cybertruck explodes in front of Trump Tower in Las Vegas.”
Other videos, filmed inside the hotel, captured the aftermath—fire engulfing the Cybertruck with flames spilling out into the hotel’s valet area.
According to a statement from a county spokesperson, the fire was reported at 8:40 AM. Law enforcement officials revealed that the truck had been rented through the Turo app and seemed to be carrying a significant load of fireworks.
The FBI is investigating the possibility of terrorism, with authorities noting that the explosion may have been linked to fireworks or a bomb inside the vehicle. Tesla CEO Elon Musk addressed the incident on social media, saying, “The entire Tesla senior team is investigating this matter. We’ll share more details once we know more. This is unprecedented.”
Musk further clarified that the explosion was unrelated to the vehicle itself. “We’ve confirmed that the blast was caused by large fireworks and/or a bomb stored in the bed of the rented Cybertruck, not the vehicle itself,” he posted on X (formerly Twitter). “All vehicle telemetry was normal at the time of the explosion.”
The incident claimed the life of one person inside the 2024 model-year Cybertruck, while seven others sustained minor injuries. Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Sheriff Kevin McMahill confirmed that the Cybertruck and a vehicle used in a recent New Orleans attack had both been rented through Turo.
This explosion occurred just hours after a tragic attack in New Orleans, where a man drove a truck into a crowd of New Year’s Day revelers, killing 15.
