The Jammu and Kashmir Government has made it mandatory for government employees posted in Jammu and Srinagar to participate in the main Independence Day celebrations scheduled for August 15.
According to a directive issued by the General Administration Department (GAD), officials working in Srinagar will attend the celebrations at Bakshi Stadium, while government employees stationed in Jammu will be present at Maulana Azad Stadium for the national event.
The government has clarified that any employee unable to attend the celebrations must obtain prior approval from their immediate superior. Absence without permission may be considered a violation of official instructions.
The GAD highlighted that Independence Day is not just a national celebration but a significant moment that reflects the country’s journey, sacrifices, and commitment to unity. The department stated that attending such events is part of the responsibility and duty of every government servant.
Administrative Secretaries, Heads of Departments, Managing Directors, and Chief Executives of Public Sector Undertakings, Corporations, and Boards have been instructed to ensure that all officers and officials under their supervision participate in the celebrations at the designated venues.
The move reflects the administration’s focus on encouraging greater participation of government employees in national events and strengthening the spirit of patriotism and public service.
