Srinagar Gears Up to Welcome Asia’s Best: A Celebration of Culture, Sports, and Unity

Srinagar, September 7 — The stunning city of Srinagar is all set to become the epicentre of martial arts excellence as it prepares to host the 3rd Asian Junior Pencak Silat Championship from September 25 to 30. More than just a sporting event, this championship is a celebration of youth, culture, and international camaraderie — right in the heart of Kashmir.

Organised by the Indian Pencak Silat Federation, in collaboration with the Pencak Silat Federation of Asia (PFA), International Pencak Silat Federation (PERSILAT), the Ministry of Sports, and the Jammu & Kashmir Sports Council, the event is a major milestone for India’s sports calendar.

The championship is expected to welcome over 300 athletes, coaches, and officials from 12 countries, turning Srinagar into a global hub of martial arts for a week. Participants will compete in several exciting categories, including:

  • Tanding (match/fighting)

  • Tunggal (solo artistic)

  • Ganda (dual artistic)

  • Regu (team artistic – three players)

Both boys and girls will be showcasing their talent, discipline, and spirit in this ancient Southeast Asian martial art that combines fluid movements, strength, and performance.

This isn’t just a competition — it’s a powerful moment of pride for Kashmir, a chance to put its scenic beauty and warm hospitality on the world stage. It’s also a strong message: J&K is not only a land of breathtaking landscapes but also a rising ground for global events and young talent.

So mark your calendars. From the shores of the Dal Lake to the mats of the championship arena, all eyes will be on Srinagar this September.
