Maybank Introduces Daily Limit on Reload Services to Boost Your Online Security

Starting May 26, Maybank customers will notice a change when topping up mobile prepaid, game credits, and similar services: a daily transaction limit of RM200 will be in place by default.

But this isn’t just a random change — it’s all about protecting you.

In a statement on its website, Maybank explained that this move is part of its ongoing efforts to make online banking safer and more secure for everyone. With the rise in cyber threats, setting a limit helps to reduce potential losses in case of fraud.

If RM200 doesn’t quite match your daily needs, no worries — you can adjust the limit up to RM500 by logging in to the Maybank2u web portal. Simply head to Settings, tap on Pay & Transfer, then go to Reload Limit.

However, there’s a thoughtful touch: after changing your limit, a 12-hour cooling-off period kicks in. During that time, you’ll still be able to reload, but only up to your current limit. Maybank will keep you informed with notifications via the MAE app and email once the cooling period starts and ends.

The bank encourages users to take a moment to review and tailor their daily limits according to their individual needs — whether it’s for paying bills, transferring funds, or topping up services.

It’s a small change with a big purpose — keeping your money and digital life just a little safer.
