Haj Flights Delayed, Not Denied: A Pause for Safety and Patience

SRINAGAR: In a move that has left many hearts heavy across Jammu & Kashmir, the Haj Committee announced on Saturday that all chartered Haj flights scheduled up to May 14, 2025, have been cancelled due to the current situation in the region.

The announcement, while necessary for safety, comes as a difficult moment for hundreds of pilgrims who have long prepared for this spiritual journey. In an official statement, the committee said:
“In continuation to our previous notice dated May 9, 2025, we regret to inform that due to the prevailing circumstances, all chartered Haj flights till May 14 stand cancelled.”

For many families, this pilgrimage is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Months of preparation—spiritual, financial, and emotional—have gone into it. Understandably, the news has caused concern and disappointment among pilgrims, but the committee has requested everyone to remain calm and patient.

“We understand the emotional weight of this decision,” said a senior official from the Haj Committee. “We are working hard to ensure alternate arrangements are made, and a revised flight schedule will be announced as soon as possible.”

This decision aligns with the Government of India’s wider suspension of civil flight operations at 32 airports across northern and western India, including Jammu and Srinagar, from May 9 to 14, 2025, due to heightened regional tensions.

Families are urged to stay connected through verified communication channels and avoid unverified information or speculation. The committee assured that all updates will be shared promptly.

For now, the wait continues—but the hope remains strong.
