Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir government has confirmed that it is currently examining a proposal to increase the monthly honorarium of Personal Assistants (PAs) working with Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs).
The update came from the Finance Department in a written reply to a question raised by Congress legislator Tariq Hameed Karra during an Assembly session. The legislator had asked whether PAs attached to MLAs had formally demanded a revision in their honorarium along with additional benefits such as travelling allowance and daily allowance, in line with the facilities provided to staff of other parliamentarians.
Responding to the query, the Finance Department stated that a proposal for enhancing the monthly honorarium of MLAs’ PAs had been received from the Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Department. The proposal, the department said, is presently under active consideration.
However, the government did not share any specific timeline for a final decision, nor did it provide details on the proposed increase or related benefits.
