J&K Flood Crisis: All Assembly Committee Meetings Halted Until September 5

Srinagar, August 28 – As floodwaters continue to rise and lives are disrupted across Jammu & Kashmir, the Legislative Assembly has taken a significant and compassionate step — suspending all committee meetings until September 5, 2025.

In an official notification, the Assembly Secretariat cited the worsening weather and the flood-like situation that has engulfed many parts of the Union Territory. The decision wasn’t just about procedural delays — it reflects a deeper understanding of the ground reality: that every hand and resource is needed right now to support rescue operations and relief efforts.

Officials emphasized that due to the adverse and unpredictable weather, and the increasing pressure on local administration to manage the situation, the scheduled meetings of all House Committees — including Financial and Legislative Committees — have been temporarily put on hold.

This move is not just administrative. It shows that governance, at its best, listens to the heartbeat of its people. At a time when communities are facing displacements, property losses, and emotional distress, the decision to pause official deliberations sends a strong message — that the people come first.

While the Legislative Assembly resumes its duties after September 5, the focus now shifts to unity, compassion, and action on the ground. Every hour counts. Every helping hand matters. And this pause in legislative activities echoes a much-needed message: we stand with the people.
