Kolkata Travel Agencies Come Together for ‘Chalo Kashmir’ – A Heartfelt Push to Revive the Valley’s Spirit

Kolkata Unites for Kashmir ‘Chalo Kashmir’ Campaign Aims to Heal and Inspire Tourism Revival

In a moving show of solidarity, nearly 100 travel agencies and partners from Kolkata have come together to launch the “Chalo Kashmir” initiative—an emotional call to action to support the people of Kashmir and help revive its struggling tourism industry after the recent Pahalgam attack.

These Kolkata-based agencies, which together facilitate travel for nearly 400,000 domestic tourists each year, have historically sent around 40,000 visitors to the picturesque Kashmir valley. But this isn’t just about numbers. It’s about standing by a region that has long welcomed travelers with open arms, warm smiles, and breathtaking beauty.

The “Chalo Kashmir” campaign aims to do more than just fill hotel rooms—it seeks to restore faith, create livelihoods, and remind the world that Kashmir is not just a destination, but a beating heart of culture, resilience, and natural wonder. By encouraging people to visit, the campaign hopes to breathe life back into the valley’s economy, helping local artisans, guides, shopkeepers, and countless others who depend on tourism to survive.

“This is our way of saying—we see you, we stand with you, and we believe in your peace and prosperity,” said one of the participating tour operators.

The movement also pushes back against the fear and uncertainty that some groups have tried to spread. Instead, it sends a powerful message: that love, unity, and travel can help heal even the deepest wounds.

More travel groups and citizens across India are expected to join hands with “Chalo Kashmir” in the coming days, making this a collective step towards hope, healing, and harmony.
